Imagine a bar and restaurant with a relaxed informality and the highest standards of cuisine.
Add the backdrop of one of the best views in Southeast England and a genuinely friendly and helpful staff, then you have the formula for the fine reputation enjoyed by The Beacon near Tunbridge Wells.
The house dates from 1895 and was built as the country home of Sir Walter Harris, a former Lieutenant of the City of London. It has a wealth of architectural features including some particularly fine stained glass windows and an oak-panelled bar.
Last year, we were finalists in the Publican Pub Food awards, and were awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the category of Alfresco Dining Pub of the Year and received a 4 Diamond rating for our three hotel rooms.
Recent Developments at The Beacon
AA Highly Commended 2009-2010 Four Stars
"The Beacon received AA Highly Commended 4 Yellow Stars awarded to guest accommodation reaching the top 10% within their star rating for overall quality. AA Recognising Elegance"
Our Head Chef, James Horn has redesigned the menus, creating an interesting Summer menu with regularly changing specials.
In the recent past we have completed a substantial hotel refurbishment which includes two double and one single room all ensuite. All the hotel accommodation has been individually designed to the highest standard.
This summer sees the Beacon growing a high proportion of its own fruit, vegetables and herbs in the gardens. The quality of the produce is excellent and is used extensively in all our menus.
We have WI FI available in every room at the Beacon.
